Here is some great House Cleaning Advice when it comes to dealing with the Kitchen, is how do I look after my kitchen worktop?. With Home cleaning the cleaning of the worktop surfaces in the kitchen is what many people think is key to making sure one’s kitchen achieve that fantastic look. But remember it has a much more important function being the main area for food preparation, and wiping down and keeping clean is crucial. So here are my Home Cleaning Goddess cleaning tips for a range of different kitchen top surfaces.

General Surfaces

I tend to clean as all the time, wiping with a mild cleaner (washing up detergent combined with water in a spray) or anti-bacterial spray. After all, this is where the food handling occurs. I think it is very important that you should clean your surfaces as much as one can.

Kitchen Tiles

You will find that with any tiles, these will need wiping down, again either with mild cleaner as above or antibacterial spray. Further, where there is grout, it might require you to make up a cleaning mixture by combining water and bleach (a 1:4 ration of bleach and water). Find an old toothbrush, as this can be great for cleaning the grout between the tiles.

Glazed Tiles

Where there are special tiles – such as glazed tiles, it is paramount to avoid using an abrasive material or cloth and cleaner.

Laminate Surfaces

Laminate should be wiped down and cleaned as as with other surfaces, but for those particular difficult stains, I think that a cream cleaner will do the job. If you do not want to use a cream cleaner you can create your own cleaner my making a a paste of bicarbonate of soda and washing up liquid.

Wood surfaces

Surfaces of wood will need oiling regularly. This is highly important to prevent the wood taking on too much water. It is essential that you attend to any mess from food likely to stain, such as curry or tomato sauce as quick as you can. Further a mild cleaner, and antibacterial cleaner is fine for wood surfaces. You need to firmly rub, and one will have your wood surfaces appearing beautiful.

Stainless steel surfaces.

With stainless steel worktops it is those pesky finger prints that need constant attention. A decent microfibre cloth is amazing at Meeting the challenge of these. One idea is to utilise a small bit of baby oil, the result will be that those fingermarks soon disappear in no time. As with some other kitchen surfaces, metal work tops need to be looked after and so do not use any abrasive or harsh cleaners and cleaning material as one will discover that it will scratch and damage the kitchen worktops.

Granite surfaces

A lot of experts see the granite surface as the most hard-wearing. They mostly avoid staining, and can look fantastic. The granite surface will still need to clean on a regular basis as per the instructions above, and mild cleaner is enough. Again, like stainless steel kitchen surfaces you must avoid using wire wool or scrubbers that are abrasive as you do not want to ruin by scratching and damaging the surface.

The heartbeat of the house is often the kitchen, and having a beautiful and well maintained kitchen is essential, and should be utilised and enjoyed. Tidy and wipe down the surfaces as you go and you will discover that you have a kitchen where you will enjoy cooking and entertaining.
